Website redesign · Information architecture · Content hierarchy
Organising a broad self-build resource so visitors can find what's relevant to them — wherever they are in the process.
House Planning Help supports people through one of the most complex personal projects they will ever undertake: planning, designing and building their own home. The existing site carried years of valuable content — podcast episodes, real project stories, planning guides and sustainable building resources. The challenge was helping visitors find what was relevant to them, regardless of where they were in the process.
The redesign focused on information architecture and content hierarchy. Navigation was restructured around the reader's journey rather than content type, making it easier to move from early research through to detailed guidance on specific building methods or planning submissions.
Visual design was kept clean and approachable — readable on any device, with enough structure to support a dense content library without feeling technical or overwhelming.
